We have collected some samples and here is what we have gotten so far:

Number of Pepperonis on a large Pizza Hut pizza:

37, 44, 46, 50, 50, 51, 51, 55, 56,  74*

We have counted pepperonis on at least nine Pizza Hut pizzas. We have obtained these samples from different variables, such as price of the pizza and store location. We have gotten Pizza Hut pizzas from a store on Cherokee and Sunset, and a Pizza Hut located in Reseda (Vanowen St). We have also gotten pizzas varying in price. The prices are $6.99 and $10.00. We have reason to believe that price has no influence on the number of pepperonis on a large pizza, seeing as how we got 37 pepperonis on a $6.99 large pizza, and 55 pepperonis on a $6.99 large pizza. Location may prove to be a “lurking variable”, because on average, the pizzas obtained from Reseda’s Pizza Hut have given 50-55 pepperonis. Location of Pizza Huts as a “lurking variable” will be further “researched”. More stats to come.

*The 74 pepperoni count may have been due to the fact it was a “Pepperoni Lovers”, which may not be considered in the final calculations.

Number of Pepperonis on a large Dominos pizza:

32, 37, 40, 40, 45, 45, 46, 49

So far, these pizzas have only been obtained from one located on Mariposa and Normandie. The price variables for these pizzas was $12.99 at menu price. Three of these large pizzas were obtained through the $12.99 price. The other two pizzas were obtained through a “meal deal” priced at $30.00. We think price may not have an influence on the amount of pepperonis placed on large pizzas seeing as how the all the samples are similar in number. We still need to further research Dominos. Different locations will also be sampled. More stats to come.

A Pizza Hut large pizza is 16 inches. A Dominos large pizza is 14 inches. We are also considering ordering medium pizzas from each location in order to see if size has any significant influence over the amount of pepperonis received. In comparison (So Far), Pizza Hut seems to give you “more bang for your buck”.
